I don’t know if this is what you’re talking about, but when the collaboration (or any kind of special event image) arrives, we make it the featured image no matter where we are in the rotation. When that feature is done, we usually restore the last one if it was cut short so it gets its full time. Maybe that’s what you are seeing this time,

These featured images are cycling a lot faster than I’m used to.
Last one only lasted three days before getting replaced, and I swear some in the past lasted for about a week.
I’m hardly one to say whether this images deserves it; I’m just kind of confused about the prospect of changing that quickly.
