@uglybad
They don’t have the same theme. Sunny wants to be friends with unicorns and pegasi because of what they are and not because of who they are. She didn’t even have any proof that they’re friendly.
The closest I could think of was Fluttershy bringing parasprites into town. She didn’t know anything about them and just thought they were cute animals. She didn’t bother to figure out what they were. What if Sunny was wrong? What if the unicorns and pegasi really were “unsavory”? All Sunny had to go on was Izzy, Zipp and Pipp but they don’t speak for their whole respective tribes just as how Cozy Glow or Sombra speak for their tribes.

I’d argue that FiM had many good examples of choosing your friends wisely. In Rarity Takes Manehattan, Rarity is all too eager to share her fabric with Polomare, since they hit it off pretty well and she probably considered her a future friend. That came back to bite her when Polomare copied her line. In Wonderbolts Academy, Rainbow Dash and Lightning Dust are initially in sync, but as LD becomes more reckless, RD distances herself and speaks out against her behavior. Just two examples that come to mind.
G1 had an episode kind of like this called Fugitive Flowers. There’s a reason why the term “stranger danger” exists. Friendship involves choosing your friends wisely. Something G4 never got across. Being friends with someone for who they are instead of “what” they are is more important and I hope G5 has a lesson about this.
Good Sunny. Do what Twilight and her friends weren’t willing due to their closed-minded hypocrisy. Give that filly the second chance and good life that she deserves.
Maybe Cozy will be a good lesson in how even the seemingly best and most perfect ponies can make horrible mistakes.
Or the magic keeping the prison active would fail and allow her to escape.
Good and Cute and Cozy.

Define “good”.
Don’t forget Coloratura ditching Sven Gallop when she opened her eyes to how he was manipulating her rather than helping her.

Ok, then??
A better idea then releasing Discord.
