When I was younger, I didn’t understand why Chihiro’s name was shortened to Sen. Apparently that’s a reference to the Japanese letter for “Sen” being half of that for Chihiro?

I always assumed she said ‘sin’.
 
But it’s just another way of dehumanizing her, literally.

And Sen apparently means “one thousand” in Japanese.
 
So essentially, they’ve given her a number and taken away her name.

So Chihiro now has to work at this bathhouse, presumably without getting paid.
 
Don’t worry, it’s not child slavery, it’s just an internship. :P

Fair, but I was more making a joke about unpaid internships where you basically do work for free with no benefits.

Well, that was a lot more wholesome than I was expecting. I actually kinda liked it.
 
I now kinda feel stupid for being scared of this 18 years ago. Then again, I was a literal toddler, so meh.

So, I got two months of Funimation for free.
 
I know I’ve complained about Funi in the past, but I see this as a good excuse to finally watch some more anime, so Imma take it.

I like to imagine this is how He-Man transforms back into Prince Adam.

I knew Tara Strong voiced the big baby in English, but I only learned recently that the Japanese VA also voiced the male lead in Your Name and was in the live action JoJo Part IV adaptation, among other roles he’s had.

 

The original Evangelion TV series is finally being released on Blu Ray in America for the first time ever in 2021. I believe this is the first home media release of the Evangelion TV series since 2005.
