You know, for as much as Star Trek fretted about Data and synthetic life in general, they didn’t seem to give much of a shit about the self-aware AIs continually pumped out by the holodeck. One bad voice command or misplaced semicolon and suddenly you’ve got a 1940s gangster with an existential crisis.
