Well this is why we have forums and feedback threads, so people can tell us what they want.

That sidebar is GIGANTIC. it’s so wide that it took 1/3 of the page. crazy. Also it’s on the right side. D8
 
Edit: I just realized you took the ‘most upvoted/comments’ page. what are you going to do with that? I liked to visit that page from time to time…

They’re on the activity page next to the featured image - top scoring, top commented etc.
 
We’ll probably end up with a summary of those on the homepage/activity page as well as the full views.

It’s kinda funny. I went to bed vehemently opposed to the redesign, and then woke up the next morning suddenly not minding at all.

Noticed that we revereted back to the old design. Did people really have too many issues with it?

Seems like. It was getting workable, too.
 
Annoyingly, this means that the activity page is now cluttered with images.

I was thinking that it could have a special page, so instead of saying ‘this image has been deleted’, it would say ‘We’ve moved this image to the forum, click here to view the thread’.

Bug: The front page no longer lists recent forum posts and image comments.

Right, I (alone, as a person, not I AM ADNIN MAN AND AM MAKING THIS HAPPEN) had some free minutes and whipped this up as a concept. Feel free to get irrationally angry and yell at me, as is natural.
 

 
Also apart from that as the landing page, there would be a dedicated Lists page that would essentially show the same info as the sidebar, but more of it.

As long as clicking on “Derpibooru” brings me to the images page, do whatever you want.

That looks like it would be a nice way to get it all in an unobtrusive way for people who prefer to check the newest images and little more than that. (would that be compatible with adding #watched to URL to scroll directly to recently watched?)
 
(and perhaps something with 3 images for recently most downvoted because those have such wonderful, fun discussions in the comments? :D)

I’ve compared it to 16:9 ratio, and the sidebar is still huge compared to widescreen ratio. But then again it could be resolution scaling issue (or content).
 
IMO the sidebar looks better with 60 to 70% of it’s current width and without borders, it disturbs the whitespace a great deal and makes the page looks really busy.
 
just mah 2cents.

I’d probably avoid giving the content of the comments and posts, or at least make it optional to see it, in case someone gives a racist, swear-laden rant and I don’t want to read it.

Good layout. Even though I’m not going to use the activity page, I think you’re doing a good work.  
I’d love to see this new ‘most recent watched images’ panel.  
It isn’t ‘recently viewed’ panel, as I expected. Well, it seems like something you could add on derpibooru.
 
I suppose it would also be fun to have a ‘random images’ feature, what do you think? Something with a refresh button and adjustable quantity of images?

Not sure how much can be worked around that. I wanted to have at least two “Top Images” on the bar, and unless I reduce the spacing to next to nothing… As far as I can tell the bar would be about 20-30 pixels wider than it was on Ponibooru, and that thing was on every page of the site, not just the homepage.

Kay, I worked that out to just show image thumbnail, poster and time. I’m used to reading all the comments, so didn’t really think random comments would be an issue.

A random images list might be a thing that is possible, but a bit outside the scope of this thread. As for most recently viewed images, I’m not sure how useful that would be; also outside of scope, though.

huh. I didn’t see the ‘fixed width’ for the bar. That explains why it’s so big when i tried to compare it lol. After seeing it again, it’s better than i previously thought. The border still stings the eye.

Also, this is just a suggestion, but maybe you could have a widget that links either to the last person you commented on or the last image you posted on? Is that even possible?

It’s probably possible, but seems a bit redundant given we already have a My Comments list in the User Bar (top right).
