by the way,the reason appledash have this sudden growth have nothing to do with that episode.It’s most likely because of the airing in Japan.Applejack is one of their favorite ponies and therefore,there’s tons of appledash or rarijack fanarts.(seriously,go check pixiv or nico seiga)

Welcome to the dark side of shipping goggles: the tendency to ignore the positives of a specific relationship and magnify the negatives.
You see AJ as a unduly bossy mare who’d make Rainbow change basic parts of her personality to suit her own lifestyle and force her into a life of indebted slavery on the apple farm; I see Pinkie as a codependent manic-depressive with severe attachment disorder.
In the end, we’re both arguing about lesbian pony love in a children’s card game cartoon show. Whoever wins, everybody’s a loser.

While I’m not too fond of Appledash myself, you can’t really bring logic into shipping pairings. Yeah, Shydash or Pinkiedash would make more sense, but canonically, both are as far away as any other ship.
Honestly, it’s just preferance. A good shipping story doesn’t live from show interactions alone, it lives from telling a compelling story. I’ve seen a Celestia and Pinkie shipping story work really really well.
In the end, it all comes down to how the ship is executed.
What she didn’t tell her, is that angels tend to be traitorous bastards and will junt you back in time and steal your life at any moment.

Happens, well, cause people like it. They find it cute, find them compatible, just like their color scheme together, etc, etc, any reason really.
This is nice and all, but what I’m about to say might get some people angry, but this ship in my opinion feels forced. I actually didn’t mind this ship back then, but after castlemania, this ship managed to surpass pinkiedash and some other ship within less than a month. When I saw that scene with RD and AJ in the hall of hooves, all I saw was RD being RD. She could’ve said that to anyone, even the frickin’ princesses. Then, Megan jokes about it and suddenly, half of the appledashers yell “its canon, they were meant for each other, all other ships can suck it!”. Its a kids cartoon, do they honestly think they’d do that!? And the recent toys where you mix all the ponies to make a different pony, one of the pics on it had appledash/rainbowjack. same reaction from Megan’s tweet.
As for the ship itself, both get too competitive, they tend to fight, and put them in a relationship, one of them is gonna be dead. Knowing Rainbow, there’s no way that she would want to wake up so early and buck apples all day. She’d rather work on the clouds as quick as possible and either be lazy or practice for becoming a wonderbolt. I find Fluttershy and Pinkie to be the most compatible. Fluttershy because they’ve known each other and RD has always protected her, and Pinkie because both are close friends who love to prank others and understand each other. Not to mention that Pinkie has always shown more emotion to Rainbow. Too many Pinkie pies an Wonderbolts academy pretty much proved that.
I’ve been needing to let this out for quite a while. Just wondering why all this is happening.
