@BP: No, being offensive towards groups of people is heavily frowned upon. There’s a difference. It’s a form of personal attack, in a way. Vulgarity in and of itself is fine on the site (see the vulgar tag etc), but “hey fuck you if you’re a X” or stuff that is strongly offensive to a targeted group of people is verboten, for obvious reasons. This isn’t 4chan.

If being offensive was banned we’d have a lot less curtsibling art uploaded. Sometimes, we decide some things are past the pale, under the “don’t be a dick” rule, but we (at least normally) have a pretty high tolerance for that sort of thing. Jokes about the Newtown shooting are being removed because that’s something that happened in the last few days, for crying out loud, and apart from being amazingly insensitive they’re just going to cause huge amounts of drama.

Moderation drama that doesn’t involve me.
