Same. As was said on the other site, maybe Rainbow and Fluttershy can look forward to an eternity of playdates with other ghost babies.
@A Non Man
I see! Personally I’d like to think theres more to the Mirror World then just the house, this would open other possibility’s for things to do and or happen!
@Twilight_Shimmer
That was asked on Furaffinity. Skitter replied that he originally envisioned Mirror World as just the house, but that Daffodil might have a few more tricks up her metaphorical sleeve.
It’s clearly more than the nursery, though, since Daffodil took them out of it to the bathroom.
@Twilight_Shimmer
Hence my “If Twilight found them decades later” proviso.
It’d make a dramatic story, though. Twilight would think she and Spike are the last living members of the original friend group, then find two of them. Alive, but trapped by the ghost, and freeing them would mean their instant deaths. But they’d barely remember her, and their minds have regressed after so many years being treated as infants. It’d be torturous for her: she can see them in the mirror, but can’t risk going in, lest she, too, be trapped by the ghost.
@Twilight_Shimmer
That is the question, isn’t it? An even worse scenario might be that Daffodil’s magic keeps them babies, but they’d instantly go to their natural ages if removed from her influence. So, if Twilight found them decades later, “rescuing” them might mean having them instantly age to dust.
@Twilight_Shimmer
Of course, even if the animal did lead the others there, they’d find nothing but an old, empty house. I don’t think they could ever get into the mirror unless Daffodil wanted them to. Most likely, she’d just end up with a bunch of new babies to care for.
So, here’s an idea for a sequel: years later, Twilight learns what happened to them. She brings the mirror to her castle to study, hoping to free her friends, but she has to convince Daffodil to release them. Meanwhile, the girls have been babies so long that they’ve just mentally adjusted, and are now just happy babies who barely remember ever being adults. Even if they were released, could they ever be the ponies she remembers?
A thought occurs to me. Just because we could not see offscreen does not mean something was not there. It’s actually possible an offscreen animal could have seen Fluttershy and RD enter that house/shack/whatever. Its further possible if an animal DID see them enter, they could lead Twi and friends there
This ended exactly as I expected it to, so I’m pleased.
I almost want to see an epilogue, showing tattered “missing” posters blowing past the house while we see Rainbow and Fluttershy, now totally accepting of their new lives, happily playing in the nursery. Maybe someone out there will be inspired to write a story based on this.
The true fridge horror is when you consider how their friends and parents will react to their disappearance. What will Angel and Fluttershy’s other animal friends do? What about Rainbow Dash’s parents? Not to mention Twilight and the others.
Face it, this ending is more horrific for them than it is for Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy.
creepy yet cute, I still find myself jealous of em! I do wonder if the ruined nursery will slowly change to reflect whats happening with RD and Flutters
