I only said that it isn’t necessarily to extinct if you already have descendants and even if your descendants have thair own descendants.
 
And no, there’s nothing about that, there’s just “we have a new more dangerous kind of poison joke” and “Little Pip read about original one in a book” I dont think Kkat even thought in that direction it doesn’t give anything to the plot.

While technically true, there are many cases where the predecessor went extinct while their modern counterpart lives on. For example, the meganeura (a massive dragonfly-like insect) are related to dragonflies and damselflies, which we thankfully don’t have to encounter in our lives.
 
The other guy is right, in the main story, poison joke went extinct and is replaced by killing joke. However, it doesn’t have to necessarily be set in stone. You can bypass this “canon” by explaining it away with your own ideas; maybe samples could be stored in a lab before the bombs hit and escaped into the wilderness? Who knows?
