@Kappe
I believe there is a quote from one of the show’s writers about that. (Might have been Faust, I can’t remember now.) The short of it was that they hadn’t actually expected Twilight to succeed in hatching the egg, it was more supposed to be a test character.
@DarkJester
Yep. I name-checked Raven (Celestia’s bespectacled assistant) in the previous part too, who was officially named in that same issue. It’s been quite fortunate that particular part came out when it did, just in time for me to work those references into my own story.
Well, this makes sense though, alot even. Celestia had read all “offical” stuff about dragons and it’s a known fact that they know next to nothing about dragons. Twily on the other hand had been told bedtime stories abut dragons, mere fables, nothing scientific. So ofc Celestia who’s already a thousand years+ old at this time has not read such a children story for obvious reasons and thus did’t knew that, same with her advisors. Only Twily who reads a lot and gets read to alot and remembers all that could feed Spike the way, dragon mommies usually do. :)
I’ll so gonna take that in one of my fics one day, it’s a great idea to steal. <3
Wait… Celestia’s school had Twi hatch a dragon egg as part of the entrance exam, but Celestia herself doesn’t even know how to take care of one?
