Take a look at the chart for me. As Single Crystal said this gun is chambered for any of these three rounds 5.56x45mm, 7.62x39mm and .300 AAC Blackout

7.62 and the .300 BLK have projectiles with the same diameter so they’ll be in the same row on the chart

Tell me what you notice on the chart

The problem is your think too inside the box,wait until the inevitable zombie apocalypse/alien invasion/death march of satin/ communist attack.Then Your only hope will be the guy with the semi automatic super rifle 3000 ,unless he shoots you because he though you were a looter/communist/werewolves nazi

But still, that thing clearly shoots bigger rounds than a handgun, doesn’t it? Enough to make the wound explode when the bullet pierces the body? (I dunno, it seems to me that thing will pierce you, from side to side, always)

yeah, and i’m saying that who buys a gun telling that it’s for “self-defense” it’s only using it as an excuse to buy weapons (that most likely he’ll never use)
CloSeph

There is an overarching point to that last statement I made. Shooting until your magazine is empty is ubiquitous behavior

I said the simulations included military applied ones with the civilian home defense simulations. It was meant to draw a focus to the fact that when faced with a threat that is assumed to be armed trained personnel will engage a threat with force similar to that as someone who is not trained for combat.

Fluttershy shooting a gun for sport seems plausible. Having a T-shirt that conflates violence with peace is less so.

@CloSeph
You know that you are using a war analogy in a home-defense situation right?
Clips size, long range accuracy, all those things that you said, are useful only in war, in an open conflict, not in a self-defense situation.
Unless you are a high-sensitive target (president of the US or something like that) the most “riskfull and threatening” situation that you can possibly face is a armed robber snuggling into your house while you are asleep. And in that situation, a bad-aimed shot in his chest will be good enough to let you run, call the cops and be safe.
Rifles are totally useless for non-military purposes

@Background Pony
The barrel is not as large as it appears, it’s got a built in suppressor. And I should really read sources because I had the thing pegged as an ar-15

In every single confrontation simulation involving firearms a defending shooter will fire the weapon until the detectable threats are eliminated or evacuated. In this instance I am talking about combat simulations from civilian to military. EVERYBODY shoots until the badguy is hiding/dead/fled. Most simulations see both sides of the conflict reload before any resolution is reached. A higher capacity weapon means most attackers will reload before you will. One thing a lot of people miss is that it often takes multiple hits to kill. If you wound an attacker they may feel trapped or be injured in a way as to prevent them from fleeing. Accurate fire to the vitals is easier with a carbine platform and better ammunition ballistics. There are lots of people who can be very accurate with pistols but any of them not trained to produce that accuracy in a life or death situation will probably be unable to do so. All in all, survival ratings increase moderately but it’s still a lot better off than defending with a handgun

If you need such a big thing to protect your home, you must have a pretty fucking big home…

Uh, now i want to know: what happens exactly if you shoot someone in, let’s say, a shoulder, from 10 meters (33 feet) away, with that thing? No more shoulder?

and what kind of threat do you people face in the U.S. that a handgun can’t do?
There is no need of a rifle for home-defence

If a handgun won’t stop it, you’re dead regardless. So why bother upgunning from there, other than epeen?

@Pony_tail
I’m talking about the U.S.
The bulk of home defense buys are handguns but most people who want something more accurate and can fire more rounds before reloading go along the lines of the ar-15

I can very well see the interest in them.

On one hand, they’re mechanical, pyrotechnical, and ballistic science put together to complete a practical (if violent) task. It’s an engineering marvel that’s had centuries to tweak, evolve, and perfect.

On the other hand, there’s skill to gain in using them. The ability to shoot things more accurately from further away. Something to show off or compete with.

On the OTHER hand, they make very loud noises and punch holes in things from far away. That’s just plain fun.

That’s a nicely tricked out ar-15, not a cannon at all. Most people who want something bigger than a handgun for home defense choose this.

well, of course, i know very well how the sport behind weapons is fun (i played softair many times) but i don’t get how some people are so “infatuated” with them.
I’ve lost the count of the time that i saw a Pony with a weapon near to it like in this picture, as if the weapon would make the whole thing “cooler”
