So the TYT Season 2 playlist for the official TYT channel went from having eight unavailable videos to nine unavailable videos overnight. Instead of just releasing an episode today for the weekly release on Thursday…they just put another hidden video on the playlist. This means that it’s not them forgetting…they just keep delaying the releases for Celestia knows what reason. <_<

This applies everywhere, not only in G4 but also in fiction in general.

The problem with both g4 and g5 is that they don’t explore properly, we only know some basic information, for example we don’t know anything about the foundation of either city, which would undoubtedly be a very good story to be told.

The difference is that each of the core locations in G5 has a distinct culture, and lends itself to different kinds of stories.

Actually, I’ve been to New York City and there’s tons of history and culture to experience.

Now, to be fair, Canterlot Castle is a pretty iconic location where a lot of history did happen, but other than Sunny gushing over it, there’s not a lot to do.

I do hope we see the changelings and hippogriffs again, though.

Izzy just shot up my favorites list of the G5 Manes. Still last, but closer to the next spot than before.

TYT found it’s in the two-thirds in Season 1 I think.

You know what, after giving it a thought and overall being bored, I decided to give TYT a shot. It’s actually not that bad. My favourite part in that special was when Destiny went ”It’s Tell Your Talin’ time” and she told her tale all over Izzy. Truly it’s worth Tellyourtalzillion views on YouTube.

I mentioned 3 cities because theoretically that means they explored those places more, but overall we only know the basics.

It’s not only three places now. Even before the new TYT special, we had Starlight Ridge and Skyros.

I didn’t mind, and tbh it made Equestria feel “real” to me. I live in the US, and obviously I’ve heard and know a little bit of other states like Texas, Florida, New York, etc, but I’ve never actually been there. I don’t have to explore those places to know they exist, but I know they do. If I go to New York, is there much to say except “yep, there it is”?

G5 isn’t much different they only have 3 places and they don’t explore most any of them.

Unfortunately, a lot of the locations in G4 suffer from what I’m calling “Mona Lisa Syndrome”, where it’s really iconic, but when you actually go there, there isn’t much to say beyond “yep, there it is”. That’s one of the reasons I was originally skeptical of G5 being a sequel.

I think the precedents have been more useful than the locations.

Quality? What kind of quality had we seen in the writers’ work in MYM? The only quality we have seen so far is the absence of mistakes and stupidity in TYT 2.0 - even mediocre presentations are better in comparison.

We don’t know if the Discord Arc from IDW comics will be accepted or not by TYT, which now has good writers of a certain quality judging by the last episodes and the special. Maybe Discord had made the Mane 5 forget about him and Canterlot, and continue being the guardian of Canterlot. Who knows?

Seaquestria could be one of the seven kingdoms in the sparking seas and if the writers know their stuff, they will possibly only have a few names known to us at a time. Seaquestria is far to the south and may have become inaccessible after Equestria’s collapse. Perhaps Destiny comes from there, although she stated that she lives in the Jade Sea, which may be in the southern part of the Celestial Sea.

We now have a good idea that the Dragon Lands - which are always in the plural instead of the singular - are in reality temporary residences for the dragons in their worldwide migration with the exception of the Isle of Scaly which may be their permanent home to which they always return. According to the dragons who saw Sparky for the first time, they hadn’t seen baby dragons in a long time, which could explain that they hadn’t emigrated for as long. Now that Opaline is gone, it wouldn’t be surprising if Spike plans the first dragon migration out of the Isle of Scaly. It could be quite a spectacle for the New Mane 6.

What had gone wrong with MYM was the poor quality of writers who sometimes couldn’t rewrite without creating chaos. With TYT 2.0, it has been seen that things have improved in this area. The special is very promising, because this may herald that things have been sorted out, we now see vague signs of the influence of G4 and Twilight’s empire in the past as with non-equestrian cutie marks that may later come to IDW comics. This suggests a confidence that was not there in the first season of G5.

The only g4 connection we got the entire time counting the comics are, The Mane 6, Discord, Spike, Canterlot, a Daring Do book and Fluttershy’s Cottage. And that’s it. There’s no Seaquestria or Aris mentioned at all.

Probably not, as the Isle of Scaly was first mentioned in a G4 book (Daring Do and the Eternal Flower). However, in said book, it was called the Isles of Scaly.

At this point, they should just refurbish Canterlot. It’s the only location that’s still recognisable as it doesn’t have a new name. There are only new locations in G5. Maybe Isle of Scaly was the Dragon Lands.
