The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

Well ok. Just wanted to know a reason for this decisions. Because of the poll and everything else. And I just hide the tag chickun a few days ago, because that was the “meme” that was the reason for this clusterfuck…
Any other exploitable memes haven’t increased. At least not in the last few days.

@soundtea
Thank you I costomised my filter ages ago…
even more than one since it is possible to change them so easily.

Yes. And no, we don’t need a “real” email. Mailinator works fine.

Or if you wait a minute I’ll just create a new system filter that’s more “permissive” but still “blocks” NSFW stuff.

EDIT:
Default C is the same as Default B was a day ago.

There’s no point replacing the thumbnail for an exploitable with the thumbnail for a spoiler. It’d still clutter up the page (which as a reminder defaults to 15 images per page). Spoilers are made for content that is potentially offensive or, err, spoilery. This was hidden because it’s clutter.

We make it pretty clear what’s filtered and how to change filters in case anyone wants this content visible.

@Mad Black
Because they have a tendency to swamp the front page, and spoilers don’t help against a spam wave, given that you’ll see like 24 of the same picture.

Seriously, is it that hard to make a custom filter that has them visible?

Me.

No Meta intends to remove all meta, drama and not-art from the site. The recent surge of spam under the umbrella of the exploitable meme tag merited its addition to the default filters. Using the All Images filter takes a couple of clicks if you really want to see it, and for 2-3 more you can even set up your own filter.

Okay, who added the “exploitable meme” tag to all the filters? I was under the impression that that was what the “No Meta” tag was for.

The Anti-Normies
i believe that the “youtube caption” should be added to the default filter, when season 4 starts those will be spamned like hell and may scare away new users.

When editing personal filters, the fancy tags setting used is the wrong one. It ignores the “settings” setting and instead uses the “edits” setting.

A Perfectly Normal Pony - <Carcer> "Officer, unless I threatened to **** him in the ass, I don't believe I could have reasonably expected him to stop using my website."

Will episode spoilers be added to users’ Legacy Filters when the time comes or do they have to add them themselves?
At present we do not intend to directly modify any user’s personal filters. Maintaining them is entirely the responsibility of the user that owns them. What we may be considering is filter inheritance or the ability to have multiple filters concurrently active - meaning that you could have a site-maintained spoiler filter, for instance, which just spoilered content from new episodes as appropriate, working at the same time as your regular personal filter. However, this is again a lot more development effort and time so even if we do decide we want to implement it I can’t make any estimate on when you might see something like it.

As the stats seem to show that a strong majority of users prefer seeing all the clop and gore content, I believe a simple warning next to the “all image” filter would do the job. Maybe put it last in the list so new users don’t click it by mistake.
Just speaking out for the anons and lurkers who might not enjoy posting or might not even have an account. If it’s not too much trouble, please bring back the dropdown menu for us. Also, good work on this and other features, and overall listening to the community.

The explicit vs safe divide is a tricky one to measure but it’s certainly not the majority browsing for the porn.

There’s no way to please everyone with this sort of system, and you’re going to have to do a click-through operation of some sort to access NSFW filters either way if you’re a new user (or deleting cookies).

This approach seemed to us to be the best balance - it’s still way more convenient than signing up an account, but maintains a fairly safe entry to the site for most users.

We may consider bringing the menu back to users who have gone through and selected a filter that is not the default, but you’re still going to have an extra click-through if you’re deleting cookies.

It’s worth noting that if you flip back and forth frequently between a couple of filters, you can always bookmark the “Use this filter” links.

Roranicus

Anons no longer see the dropdown menu on every page but instead can go to the filters page to switch - there’s a nice big notice there about NSFW content.

I don’t like this change. 90% of the time when I visit the site I don’t bother signing up as I prefer browsing anonymously. I also delete cookies after every session. The one thing I loved about the change was being able to pick the filter I want from a dropdown menu rather then having to visit a separate page. The ability to switch quickly from one filter to another was appreciated too, as I might be looking for gore to freak out my friends and later be looking for more “cutesy” art.

Fair point, fair point. I misunderstood you, my bad. This sort of thing breeds butthurt like farmers breed cows. Your point is a good one, and I can see where it could be tiresome.

On the other hand, this tread is about that very thing. I could understand the burger thing at a normal restaurant, but if it’s a restaurant that’s trying to make the perfect burger recipe, then it would be a different story.

Dude, calm down. I suggested they replacing a few words to emphasize the point of “unfiltered”, which I don’t imagine taking more than a minute to do, and I already did that in a manner as far away as whining as I possibly could. There are kids on this site, and that is just a measure to make sure that they know what they are in for if they use “all images”.

No, it is more a matter of the mods and admins working hard to provide people with everything they ask for and it never being good enough. They have big, easy to read text above the filter option that very clearly states that changing the filters may result in seeing nsfw images. To click “all images” clearly falls under that. It literally says unfiltered.

It is not about what people want to see. It is about people getting what they want and then still whining for no reason. It is like you ask for a burger and they bring you one with everything. You then say, well, I don’t like pickles and mustard. They make your burger again without pickles and mustard. Then you say “Well, that is pretty good but I don’t really like sesame seed buns. It’s almost perfect but could I get a bun without the seeds?” So then they give you the bun you want.

Finally, you’re about to take a bite and then you say “Oh, well, I actually don’t like my lettuce leafs to be quite this large. Could you shred them for me?”

At some point you deserve to have your food spit in.

I don’t see the point in being butt hurt about other people not wanting to see the same things you do. People have different tastes in media, you must accept this. As long as they’re not trying to force you to view media you don’t like, there isn’t an issue.

There are now filters for seeing everything, seeing just NSFW stuff, and seeing just SFW stuff. Take your pick and be happy.

If you do not specify a field to search over, the search engine will search for posts with a body that is similar to the query's word stems. For example, posts containing the words winged humanization, wings, and spread wings would all be found by a search for wing, but sewing would not be.
