On this day 3 years ago, rock n roll singer Little Richard passes away from bone cancer. The singer was one of the pioneers of rock n roll and scored numerous hits throughout the late 1950’s and was known for his loud and rambunctious piano playing and shouting, which would be replicated by future musicians. He was 87 years old

On this day 42 years ago, reggae singer Bob Marley passes away from melanoma. One of the pioneers of reggae music and the one to bring it forward to mainstream attention, the release of his greatest album “Legend” in 1984 would make his music reach out to a larger audience in the US. He was 36 years old.

Coincidentally, you posted as I’m currently watching a live video of a YouTuber (Chris Must List) who is about to explore “Bob Marley Falls” (Dunn’s River) in Jamaica, which is often part of the Bob Marley Nine Mile tour.

Marley’s “Legend” album was a huge stepping stone in my discoveries in, and love of, music! A great comp!

I hate it when people hate or negatively gatekeep artists who shifts into experimental in their stuff. It’s like you can’t do whatever you want to do anymore without your fans stop kissing your asses because they hate the new direction your career is going.

I used to hate Linkin Park’s most recent album because of the 180° shift in tone but got used to it overtime and unrelatedly in light of Chester’s death.

People burn out of their old noise so they bore overtime and go find new one because they realize they’ve been making the same old shit all over again.

On this day 47 years ago, Keith Relf, frontman for the 60’s rock band The Yardbirds, fatally electrocuted himself in his home while tuning his electric guitar that was improperly grounded. Taking medications to treat asthma and emphysema, the medications in his system may have further contributed to his death. He was 33 years old.

At that time, he had released one album with the Prog/Hard Rock/Heavy Metal group Armageddon, and was planning on getting the original lineup of Renaissance (a group he co-founded) back together. So many great things could have happened if he didn’t meet that fatal end, but he was already a sickly fellow

I’ve heard that if he wasn’t taken the medications, then most likely he would’ve survived the electrocution with third degree burns or something
