At this point we should really use the combined part names like g4. Ik we started with "firstname1firstname2" bc we didn't know all the characters full names but at this point we do. The actually interesting names are aliases of the basic fnamefname (Such as Stormblazer being an alias of hitchzipp).
Part of the appeal of MLP shipping was the fun ship names so it's kinda aggravating to go from Appledash to HitchZipp naming structure wise.
Newer character g5 ship names (such as Mistypetals, Mistyclover, Mistymoonlight, Mistyline, Mistybeats) already use the better g4 naming style. The simple names should be aliases for when someone doesn't remember the actual ship name.
Fandom wise we have been using the popular names for awhile now and I'll list them for ease of reference:
