I've been to several far-south states and I can confirm I've seen a Hooters in every single one of them at least once or twice.
I can also confirm I've seen kids being taken to that place when they probably shouldn't be. But Hooters did their thing where they're trying to pretend to be a family restaurant now, as if they can hide their origins. They have male servers at least so it's more neutral but they still have an obvious bias for more attractive, busty women.
I for one don't mind lewd places of business, but I'm put off by dishonesty. Their food is good either way, but they're half-pretending they never existed to be lewd when they very obviously gained mainstream popularity because of that.
Also I think it's kind of uncomfortable that they discriminate against "less attractive" (mostly normal looking) women when hiring, and some have claimed their appearance seems to effect their pay as well. The restaurants have often been managed like a fashion modeling or porn industry, where they judge their employees like pieces of meat.
