Well, the first Pinkie Clone was more in true with pinkie than the rest really.

Alright, let me put on my “I HAVE ONIONS ON THE INTERNET” hat.

I think that what they did was kind of a cop-out. They could have really brought up some really thought-provoking questions, but they didn’t.  
They had a clearly defined “original” Pinkie, and she was distinct from the others. That (sort of) means that there’s no moral grey area in killing banishing sending the others clones copies back to hell the mirror pool.  
Where it could have been more interesting is if there really was no difference between the Pinkies, and thus, no single “original” Pinkie Pie. Thus, Pinkie’s gag about not being the “real” one, would have been a really deep philosophical question/prompt.  
But, that’s kind of too deep for a show about technicolor lesbian ponies for little girls.

Who would create something like that? Endlessly cloning yourself until your copies have overrun the universe?

Actually, now that I think of it, the mirror pool being the bad guy for the season 3 finale would be a shocker.
