Canon backstory for Shining Armor is the best one, a loving brother who isn’t good at everything but still better at some things than his sister.
My headcanon is he suggested being ugly to turn her off from these rp sessions. It backfired to say the least. Still better than the babysitter one she was suggesting.
Its why I never really liked Shining backstory of being some dorky dnd nerd. I kind of wanted his backstory to be more military and cool, like a knight in shining armor. And for their love story to be like those old WWII love stories.
Yeah, loser Shining Armor isn’t a fun trope for me. What, just because he cried before a wedding?
It’s justified in the original image where Shining’s toy is legit worse than Cadance’s, but it has always been a rather boring cliche when Shining is portrayed as the schlubby loser of the relationship. They’re both hot!
