In my headcannon, Opaline was on many ways why the rest of his people be gone. So he sees all ponies as the monsters similar to Opaline. But he saw how wrong because of Misty’s compassion.
Precisely, and Misty is also similar to Roshan the baby who comfort him.
Yeah he’s just like Manny the mammoth from the ice age franchise, when he is lonely and has no family.
