If being offensive was banned we’d have a lot less curtsibling art uploaded. Sometimes, we decide some things are past the pale, under the “don’t be a dick” rule, but we (at least normally) have a pretty high tolerance for that sort of thing. Jokes about the Newtown shooting are being removed because that’s something that happened in the last few days, for crying out loud, and apart from being amazingly insensitive they’re just going to cause huge amounts of drama.

It’s right there in your screenshot, for crying out loud. It would be nice if people would actually follow the instructions we give them sometimes.
 
As it so happens, no, that image shouldn’t have been deleted - K_A’s not a brit and he was acting out of caution on our behalf, but he was overcautious and did the wrong thing in this instance. The image has been restored. You’ve also done the wrong thing by posting up this complaining metapost instead of following the clearly provided instructions and contacting us directly, which would have resolved this issue with a minimum of drama and in much less time.
 
We are seriously considering adding a rules clause about making metaposts like this before using the channels of communication provided to raise issues with the mods. We’re not an unreasonable monoentity and sometimes some of us are wrong and we’re capable of recognising that. You don’t need to try and rabble-rouse some support whenever something happens that you disagree with.

The BP immediately before the comment that is identifiably that happens to be talking about doing things as a mod would be my bet for the BP that is actually me, but now that you mention it I’m really not sure which one I am anymore. OH GOD.

roflbot is not evil, and there is no need to crop out that watermark and resave lossy images (noticeably more jpeg artifacts in the cropped version); merged into the original. Our anti-watermark rule apples to content aggregation/theft sites like mylittlebrony. roflbot is just an online image macro creation service.

I was one of the people who set this place up in the first place - that would be me, TheSmilingPony, CloverTheClever, and Launchycat. If anyone was to nominally be in charge it’d be Clover as lead coder or TSP as “guy who actually pays for everything” but in practice we operate as a democratic consensus.

I’m not “the main mod”, and you’d all be better served by ignoring him and not taking the bait when he does this. But if he keeps on doing it he is going to get banned, yes. It’s not your job to threaten him about it, though.

There’s a tiny bit of python used somewhere in the site, I think as part of the image analysis for deduplication. SO THERE YOU GO STOP COMPLAINING

The show is literally about six people with wildly varying interests, different backgrounds, different hobbies, different professions, literally different colours and different subraces of their species who come together and become best friends; why is that people only start banging on about diversity when they’re being drawn as humans? We don’t need a tag for diversity. It’s part of the whole theme of the show. If anything, “homogeneity” would be a tag that would be far more relevant, and there’s a greater case for complaining about “forced homogeneity” than “forced diversity”. Except that nobody should be complaining about either and artists should just be free to depict the characters as whichever races they feel like.

It’s not really a big mystery as to why we’ve had problems in the last couple of days. Ponies happened! All of a sudden we get large wave of activity brought on by the airing of the third season, and the more strain the site is under, the more stuff starts misbehaving. We’re doing the best we can to alleviate the issues. Hopefully you should see performance improve as time goes on, as we work out fixes and efficiency improvements and the initial rush dies down.

The server that actually seems to affected by the routing problems is Spitfire, and she’s the media server who handles all the images. It seems that most people can still access Trixie, the main app server, quite happily. The specificness is infuriating. If you can find a proxy that works, just roll with that for now.

Friendly reminder to keep it classy, guys. Nobody’s done anything particularly objectionable yet but this is obviously a bit of a touchy subject for some and we don’t want to see tempers flaring.
