Did you guys miss me saying that i like the objectively inferior Squall more than Lightning? When did i say Objective superiority means Subjective preference?
Objectively Fable 2 is moderately good and Oblivion is an overall stronger game, subjectively Fable 2 is freaking awesome and puts Oblivion in it’s bitch ass place,
I can know something is better but still prefer the inferior one because it suits my tastes,
@Thanotos Omega
The problem with objectively measuring a character is that it devolves into “who is closer to being a sue” more often than a genuine character study.
For example, I have a friend who says “AJ is objectively best pony because she doesnt fuck up as much.”
And I point out how stupid that since this is a cartoon and when the entire show’s structure is based on fucking up and making an episode out of said fuck up.
@Thanotos Omega
Idk much about Lightning, all I recall is that the same thing that annoyed me about Squall annoyed me about her: why should I care about what she’s going through when she never cracks a damn smile?
Both have a monoemotion thing that irks me, same reason I dislike most “action girl” characters (and many “action guy” characters)
@Whatevs
To be honest Squall is clinging to favorite status by a thin strand of nostalgia and will probably be replaced by Zidane some day, because i to am getting over the quiet bad ass loner type,
I think violence, politics and horror are acceptable material for children’s entertainment. The Brits know what they’re doing, raising their children on Doctor Who.
@Trickquestion
I disagree. The BBC has a very clear political ideology behind its programming and, regardless of the merit the position may hold, showing it to children is bad form.
And Britain kinda sucks so I see no reason to emulate them
@Whatevs
They tried to give an explanation for that with Squall, though how well that works is left to personal opinion. Still like 8 for having a sense of humor.
@Solitude
I havent played 8 in awhile so I can’t comment on the sense of humor. I know I liked how 7 had a sense of humor about itself after playing it again so who knows.
@Whatevs
It didn’t take itself seriously all the time though most of it wasn’t too overt. Dialogue or things happening in the background of scenes. Stuff like that. ’Course, humor is subjective as hell so what I find funny might not be so to someone else.
