The Love Story of Microsoft and their Black Brick

So, Microsoft apperantly announced their new system: The Xbox 1. And well, it looks about as impressive as you would expect and is sort of distancing itself from vidja.
 
Let’s start with the look of it:

For its functions: Microsoft is toting it as an all-in-one system which as I’ve heard is about as strong as some computer systems launched three years ago (exact specs are unavailable to me and I don’t care to get them at the moment). To fill in this one-in-all role, it can allow you to browse the internet, watch TV, potentially stream American Football, play for you movies, run Skype, and I guess play some video games.

So I guess the ultimate question now is: Will it float?

They know all of the multimedia things this does can just as easily be done by an $85 Roku, right?
 
Notice how Sony got away from the “It only does everything” tagline with the PS4. Even people at Sony said that there’s things on the PS4 “a non-gamer wouldn’t get.”

Don’t forget that the fee is probably going to be the same amount as retail cost or close to it. So there’s no point in buying used games any more, cause unless you got it free then you’re going to wind up paying more in the end.

There’s no point in even borrowing a game from a friend for a week like I frequently do with my current systems now.

I’ve always wanted a device that allowed me to watch TV on my TV.

THE TV HAS BEEN DOUBLED!

I think people should calm down and wait for more details. Many aspects of the console are still in development and are subject to change.

It doesn’t have an online all the time requirement, but it apparently will temporarily deactivate itself if you don’t connect it to the Internet for 24 consecutive hours. So if your connection goes out for a day you can’t play.

I will admit… the Xbox One did do one positive thing for me, it gave me faith in the Ouya.

I do like that they didn’t change the controller much.  
I absolutely adore the 360 controller, and all the minor changes here look like improvements.  
Those thumbsticks in particular look very comfortable.
