Yes, yes, we all know of Kubrick’s perfectionism and controlling nature, particularly the situation with Shelley Duvall, but that had no effect over the quality of his films. And it’s utterly ridiculous to suggest that he “didn’t reach his full potential” because of that.

Anyway, if you’re going to watch 1960s-70s New Hollywood era films, overcontrolling directors are just something you’re going to have to get used to.
Kubrick wasn’t even the worst New Hollywood director when it comes to that. Michael Cimino (Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, The Deer Hunter, Heaven’s Gate) was way worse; among other things, he tore down a set and completely rebuilt it because it was a few feet off, and was so careless about safety when filming a battle scene that a horse actually exploded during the shoot–and he left it in the final cut of the film.
The only reason Kubrick is the one everyone goes after is because he’s the most famous.

I think a EQG/TF crossover would be cool, don’t know if I’d want one from IDW since their EQG comics are usually kinda the pits(March Radness was actually pretty good but I feel it’s the exception). If it ever happens I’d want an animated special

- Kemono Friends season 2 is excellent and doesn’t deserve the hate it gets.
- The last arc of Railgun season 2 is excellent and does a good job of making Misaka even more likable.
- Cautious Hero is funnier than Konosuba.
- While not as iconic as FLCL, FLCL Alternative is as good if not better than the original. The reason people think Alternative is bad is because of FLCL Progressive, which is mediocre.

When you think of good characters, memorable characters, it’s characters who are able to overcome their flaws, their weaknesses, and come out on top. We want to see a character grow; we want to see them changed into a better person. We want to see the journey for them to become strong. That’s how you make great characters. It’s what made the original Mulan so memorable… Mulan 2020 pretty much dashes on the original message, so yeah, I don’t think it’s a good movie, and I hope that the trends that have been appearing in flicks as of late don’t show up again.

I’ve seen a couple of reviews from actual Chinese people. Turns out the film isn’t as historically accurate as it was touted.
They also missed the songs,the color,the humor…
They found the additional things odd,the witch, Mulan’s Hollywood Chi…
Oh,and Donnie Yen was wasted. So there goes my last reason for wanting to see it.

It sounds like it did everything wrong, removing anything about the original film (or character) that made it even remotely interesting in an attempt to pander to the Chinese, yet adding things that still manage to piss off the Chinese, right down to selecting a lead who is literally considered one of China’s worst actors.
