Religion general

I consider myself an agnostic theist. I went to catholuc church when I was a little kid, but we stopped and have never gone in many years. My parents aren’t religious in the slightest, and nor am I. But like I said, I’m not atheist.

I used to be agnostic, I feel you man.

I guess I can be agnostic a bit.  
I mean, I believe in God but I don’t really care much. I shouldn’t wonder what or who God is because I’d waste my time trying to know the unknownable.

Not to sound like a SJW or anything but I’ve always wondered why god has to be a man? Or, more specifically, why does god need a spaceship a gender in the first place?
 
Any deity is going to be such an absurdly alien thing, so far beyond anything we could ever hope to understand that giving it something as “earthly” as a gender seems shortsighted.
 
I can understand gendering it insofar as on a personal level, (i.e. Mother Goddess, God the father, that kinda stuff) but we fool ourselves if we take that gendering fully seriously.

Most are. And our conception of God is the Christian God, which is a man in the clouds which is how the Church explained the concept to peasants.

Personally, I do not care if God is a man or woman. As long as it’s the God I can believe in.

Not gender fluid, simply alien. Giving predefined human traits to a god outside of making it more palpitate to comprehend is asinine.

Besides, who cares if God is a hunk man with a beard or a skimpy woman or even a loli? It’s not like (s)he should have hormones as that would be a sign of weakness.
 
Also, anger and sadness. God shouldn’t feel any of this.
 
I dislike some religions’ Gods because they make it more human than divine and makes it dumber than rocks.

I think it was the other way around. God/Gods have no real reason to relate to us. We, in turn, had to try and relate to them. Which is why we gave them the traits we did.
 
Not in a literal sense, I don’t think we have any influence on the gods. But, in a personal sense this is what we all choose to believe. I still gender the gods as well, but I acknowledge that that’s probably incorrect.

It’s called personification. It’s natural people personify things or entities for them to be more relate-able.

Because the idea is, and Genesis even says, that humans and Earth’n all are patterned after the Gods that created them.
 
Most Christians would call me polytheistic and be all offended that I used the plural there, but what else am I supposed to do when Genisis says “Make Man in our own image…”? Nicene Creed, man, really contradicts quite a few things in the bible…
 
But anyways, also there’s the “children of God” thing, and typically, the only difference in-between a child and the father is age - one isn’t some sort of incomprehensible being - except maybe if the baby is just too young to understand what adulthood entails…
 
But yeah, main point: after their image, familial resemblance, etc.

I love Japan for Making Christianity look kickass and maybe sexy. :P
