Fascism is best described as an ideological family of sorts rather than a single coherent ideology. It adapts to take on a unique form in every country where it takes route.

The cop mistook his car for one that evaded him the day before, and ordered the teen at gunpoint to get out. Teen moved car and cop shot him. Luckily the kid is recovering and the cop was fired and charged with aggravated assault, which sounds like a weak charge to me.

Honestly, I don’t know what solution would be best (as far as cops in the USA is concerned). I don’t want to constantly put up with innocent people being killed or brutalized by cops. I also don’t want an anarchist hell-scape where looting, rape, murder and destruction are rampant and unpunished. If it’s impossible for us to change the system, what do we do then?

It’s not impossible to change the system. You do have to participate in it though if you want to change it.

He’s giving “amnesty” to suspended Twitter accounts. This is essentially elevating the worst people to a protected class.

But some of those accounts were banned for making fun of Musk. Not all the banned accounts are “the worse people”.

And amnesty for past behavior does not make someone a member of a “protected” class.

They can be banned again.

Kanye’s was one of those reinstated accounts. Given that he was re-banned a month prior for tweeting antisemitic shit the very day his previous ban was lifted, it doesn’t fill me with confidence about that.

I’m not suggesting that you or anyone should have any confidence in Twitter. No rational person should do that.

But not all the banned accounts were “the worse people”, and being unbanned doesn’t make them a “protected class”.

It’s fine if people want to hate that Kanye and other assholes are being unbanned. Go ahead and do that.

But the amount of over the top hyperbole lately from some people is too damned high.

It should be assumed I’m thinking specifically of accounts that were rightly permabanned and shouldn’t have been reinstated at all, but I guess it is a bit of an exaggeration

We have yet to see how the site will define “illegal” posts.

Plus, “the voice of God” has already said “New Twitter policy is freedom of speech, not freedom of reach … Negative/hate tweets will be max deboosted & demonetized” and then there was some stuff about not being able to share posts depending on the poster’s “boost” that I can’t find a link to now.

And we’ve yet to see what that actually means in practice, but on its face it sure sounds like shadowbans. People will be permitted to post, but you’ll have to go to their actual profile to see their posts, and maybe you won’t be able to retweet them or comment on them.

But, most importantly, all of this is built on the assumption that Musk will do what he said he was going to to. Next week is a universe’s age away in the Muskiverse, and no one - not even Musk knows what he is going to really do. He’s promised stuff like this in the past, not just at Twitter, and then either done something completely different, or started to do it then immediately changed his mind and reversed course before it’s even really started. Or, more likely, enjoys the short term drama and then forgets he even said he was going to do something.

So much of this is personal ego boosts for Musk, and pure unadulterated lying. When he does this at Tesla, he gets smacked by the SEC. And at SpaceX he’s surrounded by filters and handlers, not least of which the FCC and FAA and NASA and the US Military.

Twitter is his own personal sandbox, you’re getting to see a glimpse of what working for people like Musk is really like.

Imagine working in Twitter and trying to figure out what the actionable steps in any of this actually are … it’s hopeless.

So … the whole thing seems like a wait and see. It’s all just speculation at this point.

Again, what’s with the mainstream media using the very vague term “Assault Weapons”?
