Trump’s entire life has been defined by the willingness of other people to coddle the rich white boy. Right now, that’s manifesting in legal leniency, as most prosecutors and judges have hesitated to show Trump even 1/100th of the justice that would face anyone else who acts like him. This is most obvious, of course, when looking at the attempted coup and the Capitol riot. Over 1,200 people have faced federal charges for Jan. 6, but Attorney General Merrick Garland dragged his feet for years on charging Trump. Yes, Garland eventually hired special prosecutor Jack Smith, and he brought charges, but it’s looking like it’s way too late to get the trial done by the election.
And yet, MAGA people pity a man with a private jet because he might have to give up a golf course or two.

There are also bridges with what are called “fenders”, that act like the crumple zone on a car. They’re made to deform on impact to absorb the boat’s energy, so they have to be replaced after an allision*, but it’s still way cheaper and way safer than what happened in Baltimore.
* Something I learned as I was researching this: in maritime law, a “collision” means both objects are moving. When one of them is at rest, either a parked boat or a structure, it’s called an “allision”.

A Pew Research study has found that a sizeable minority of those who have left a religious faith in the US (47%) did so because of anti-LGBTQ+ teachings, with the remaining ones that left doing so because they either stopped believing or decided to simply cut membership.
Every major denomination except for black protestants and jews are losing more members than they are gaining in the US, and the trend has accelerated under Gen Z and onward, now outpacing the rate of leaving that Gen Y had at this point on their lives.
