Costs to make games have consistently gone up while prices have been the same for like 30 years, a triple a game can cost hundreds of millions of dollars, if the remake cost more than 60 million to make them 1 million may not even cover it’s own cost,

Alright, let’s say that the games budget was 60 million. It went for $60 at launch and sold 2 million physical units within 6 months. I could also count the sales after that 6 month period as well as digital numbers, but let’s just stick with the 2 million.

After doing some math, the raw income from the game comes out to roughly 120 million dollars. And from there, afters subtracting the costs of development, marketing, and manufacturing, I’d estimate that the overall profits received from the game to be around 30-40 million.

So yeah, it’s not a mega-hit, but it was still a modest success. But most AAA publishers hate the idea of games not being monetized “mega-hits,” so…

Frankly I think graphics peaked in the 360/PS3 gen. So a “Triple A” game unable to make back it’s budget for anything less than a million copies sold is a self inflicted wound.

I don’t see Square Enix bragging that Cloud’s Buster Sword in the remake alone having triple the polygons of his entire original character model as a good thing.

Do I wanna run it at a solid 60+ fps on a crispy 1440p without Path Tracing

or do I wanna run it at a laughable 30 fps at 720p but with Path Tracing.

Because if I turn Path Tracing on at 1440p I’m getting a no joke, EIGHT, fps. Looks pretty as phuck but I’ve seen somebody go thru presentation slides faster than that.

But shareholders don’t play video games, so the high graphics are what companies rely on to sell to them.

Reinstalling Fallout 4 on my new PC. Hopefully this NVMe helps with load times drastically.

That’s exactly what I’ve said before. The big push for better graphics was never for the benefit of gamers, or if it was, it stopped being about them a long time ago. Now, it’s to wow investors, shareholders, and other people who don’t play video games, whose view of video games is permanently trapped in the days of the Atari 2600 or the NES.

It will not, I was shocked at having 5+ min load times on an nvme, especially in downtown Boston. I am hoping the next gen update that comes on the 25th will have improved load times. Only guessing here though.

No they are not against humans. They are not fans of mutants, synths or ghouls however. BOS should be using the T51 PA but Bethesda really likes their own T60 so bleh.

Maybe they were homophobic in NV, but I could be misremembering. That would be the only time though. And they aren’t racist. They don’t like ghouls or supermutants, though that’s the closest they are to racism.

Eh, it helped a lot. Not all the time though. I exited an instanced area and that took a looooooong time. But most loading times were better.

Veronica(my beloved) only mentioned opposition from her ex’s parents and not anyone else so I don’t think it’s systemic like how anti-synth bigotry is in FO4

Hence why I said that NV was the only time it appeared. As for the synths, I blame the Institution for causing the fear and distrust and embracing it instead of correcting it.
