Ever been up on a mountain at about 10,000 feet elevation? Last time I was, it was an interesting feeling of cold air but a hot sun - happens sometimes at lower elevation, too, but not as commonly.

From “Sweet and Elite,” Canterlot had a very sunny sort of feel to it - I’m not sure if I got that just because of all the white buildings or ponies sporting wide-brimmed hats and loose dresses, but you do somewhat get this impression that there’s a hot sun but cold air. Probably partly the cold air comes from how many ponies wear clothes, even warm clothes with sleeves, despite how many wear wide-brimmed hats.

Finally, though, what’s cemented this headcanon for me, is this sudden realization from Amending Fences - okay, sunglasses make sense for going under cover and stalking Moondancer, but… Why tropical themed?

Headcanon: Canterlot usually/often has a hot sun, but cool air, just like that mountaintop at 10,000 feet. Makes sense since it’s on the side of a mountain, after all.
