Should they Write Spike OUt?

I mean, they don’t put him along with the Mane 6 for adventures, and most of his episodes have sucked. Should they write him out, like say, have him go visit dragons?

They shouldn’t write out character because some fans don’t like them. Every character in the show has their critics. While I do admit spike don’t have the best record for episodes, having bad episodes doesn’t mean he is a bad character. Secret of My Excess and Inspiration Manifestation are great Spike episodes in my opinion.

Also, I’m starting to get annoyed with the mindset that a character should be taken out of the show instead of discussing ways to improve the character so people will dislike/hate them less.
 
For me, I would continue Spike’s story ark of wanting to know where he comes from that was brought up in Dragon Quest and maybe show his parents.

But I can’t imagine many being upset if that happened.

They should write good episodes for Spike instead of trying to get rid of him.
 
He’s a goddamn dragon, that alone makes him incredible versatile and full of potential but they don’t even try.

I wonder sometimes if people just hate him because he’s not a pony, or female. I’m sure if he was both of those things he’d be a million times more popular.
 
It’s very sad, really. I love Spike and he is one of my absolute favorites and I always hate seeing him painfully written out of episodes as his existence would make the plot last 5 minutes, as he is just that awesome.
 
I saw this exact comment posted on an EQD article and of course many people agreed with it. Sometimes I wonder if many people in this fandom just hate every male character except for that brown BG pony with the hourglass ass, and, why?

Well said. Spike is my absolute favorite character. He’s got many positive traits. He’s such an adorable, helpful, generous, innocent little dragon. Sure, he can be a little cynical at times, but he’s genuinely concerned about his friends’ well-being. Rainbow Dash is often hurtful towards her friends, but, as opposed to Spike, she never gets any remarks or foul looks for that. (idk what’s up with that) but I digress.

Pretty much this. Do people really want him Celestia’d? It would be a wasted opportunity if you ask me.

Honestly, I wouldn’t really miss him. And sad as it is to say I doubt the show as we know it would be very negatively impacted by his absence (half the time they find excuses for him to not be included or focused on much anyway like you said, and it seems like most of the time he is people end up hating the episodes anyway). But I’m pretty positive they’d never write him out. As Twilight’s assistant he’s pretty much always been just an extension of her character, so if she’s in the show, he will be too.

No way, man. Spike’s a great character. A bit inconsistently-written at times, but still an important part of the show’s world.
 
I like the little guy and definitely don’t want to see him (or any of the mane six) leave anytime soon.

Any writer who just writes a character out instead of developing them is a disgrace as a writer.
