For the sake of convenience, I am wondering if it would be okay to make a topic specifically about the time travel and plot/plans aspect of the S5 finale.
I see it getting discussed a bit on the main S5 finale thread, but that thread is also full of other discussion about the episode.
Does anyone have an answer as to how this episode gets over the “preventing a thing takes away motivation to go back in time to prevent the thing in the first place” paradox?
It looks to me like… perhaps the “real world” was put on pause for the duration of Twilight and Spike’s absence, and the other worlds are alternate dimensions.
Starlight Glimmer’s motivation was simply petty revenge specifically on Twilight.
…but then again, like, what was her plan after that? To eventually return to the “real world”? Would she be able to with the real world being on “pause” and not be able to return until Twilight did?
