General topic for character tag categorization

EDIT: woe begone, another G1 character.

we currently have two tags for one character.  
wallflower (character) (character), which is currently categorized as a character tag, _{darn link parser hiding things in parentheses}  
and wallflower blush, the full name of the character, which is currently a standard non-character tag
 
either the first tag should be aliased into the second, with the second becoming a character tag, or if possible, simply rename the first tag into the second

Please make the tag “Squabble” an alias of “Murdock”. The former tag is his name in Rainbow Dash Rights the Ship

We should give Midnight Sparkle a character tag, like what’s been done with Nightmare Moon, Nightmare Rarity and Daybreaker. Why has this never been done?

Maybe for the same reason “Principal Celestia” and “Vice-Principal Luna” haven’t been made blue tags.

For much the same reason that Sunset Satan isn’t char tagged. They’re very temporary forms of their root character. Nightmare Moon and Nightmare Rarity are the product of the Tantabus and its host, fused together in a very seamless way, and with the potential of being very permanently different. Daybreaker gets the same treatment as NM because she’s assumed to be a parallel of the same concept. Meanwhile, Midnight Sparkle is portrayed as Twilight’s inhibitions incarnate. She’s more like an alternate form than a separate being, despite the way Twilight refers to her in Everfree.
 
Or at least, that seems to be the consensus for now. Who knows, though; these things aren’t set in stone. Perhaps the satanic duo will get colourised one day; just don’t hold your breath.

Technically, the Tantabus was created by Luna after the Nightmare Moon incident to punish herself – it only came into existence well after Nightmare Moon was defeated. At least going by comics canon, I think you might mean the nightmare forces?
 
Pedantry aside, I agree with the overall point. The difference between Luna and Rarity on the one hand and Nightmare Moon and Nightmare Rarity on the other is like that between Stygian and the Pony of Shadows, who also get separate blue tags – the latter forms are the result of the original pony fusing with something else and becoming, in a sense, a new being. Sunset Satan and Midnight Sparkle are still the same people they were before, just a lot more powerful, a lot less inhibited and a fair bit less sane.
 
That all being said, and changing the argument a tad, but @Dogman15 ‘s comment made me wonder: shouldn’t principal celestia and vice-principal luna be blue tags? They’re are separate as Twilight and Sci-Twi… are they separate enough in terms of character and use to warrant making separate blue tags?

Sci-Twi was only made blue recently iirc. Dunno why.

There’s definitely some ambiguity about what constitutes enough of a “different character” to have a categorized tag. As I said, nothing is set in stone; there’s been a bit of discussion about this among staff recently, but nothing revolutionary (at least not when I’ve been on) has been decided. I’ll try to make a point to bring this up soon.

I didn’t bother to question it. I only bothered just enough to be disappointed in their decision-making skills.

It’s sad a background pony with one scene has a SFM model but Kettle Corn doesn’t… (To be fair I think she’s a recolor of I think Lemon Hearts, who had a speaking role in the first episode, so of course LH would have a model)
