Yep, he runs an NVIDIA although I don’t know the model, and I run an intel HD 5500. I thought it would be a good idea to bump the amount of shared VRAM up to 1GB due to my laptop having 12 GB RAM–it originally had 6–but could only add up to 512 MB because of the method I used.
It makes sense, thanks for clearing it up for me :)
(Sorry for the late response btw :p)

What the Fluff?
@Vinyl Fluff
So, I managed add more VRAM to my intel graphics card adding up to 512 MB while his has 1 GB (I think) of vram. Well, I didn’t think it would make that much of a difference tbh. But thanks c:

Sounds like you just upped the amount of shared VRAM. On integrated video chipsets they almost always use some RAM from the system and have no dedicated VRAM of their own. There are exceptions to this if you have a laptop that runs with an nVidia or ATI chipset. It’s also a common misconception that VRAM is the only factor in video chipset performance.

While bumping the VRAM up will help if it was set low before (as long as you have plenty of RAM and it doesn’t gimp your system) it’ll never make it perform better than a better chipset. Integrated Intel video chipsets are nowhere near the performance of a contemporary ATI or nVidia chipset, and it’s likely that’s what your cousin has.

except on a graphics card.

That’s the key difference. Some games are more CPU bound than GPU bound, but generally speaking, a great CPU paired to a crappy GPU = Crappy performance. His video chipset is the reason for his better framerate.

Word Bug
Really? My cousin runs Overwatch at 45-60 fps on “very high” and “high” graphics settings on his Asus laptop while mine rarely reaches 60 on everything low, and surprisingly my laptop has better specs than his except on a graphics card. Just saying
I’m gonna steal his so I can run my games and enjoy pony porn at 4DX
