Yeah, you have a point. Even though I understood where Twilight was coming from, she shouldn’t have done what she did. Still, though, this is Twilight we are talking about. Being paranoid and assuming the worst is a part of her character.

It’s an opinion I gained after a lot of viewing and reflection on Twilight. I just can’t get behind her characters nowadays. And Starlight isn’t much better.

Cus lets not forget also the previous moment with Trixie.  
Her stage show where she did nothing wrong in Boast Buster.  
Sure she wanted revenge but was mainly under the effect of an amulet that makes you Evil and was forgiven, then come back after living hell but actually be nice and be shit on… Yeps totally good from Twilight, soooo understandable.

She could have at least extended an olive branch to Trixie instead of instantly condemning Trixie for just being in the same room as her.
 
Also, if I recall correctly, Twilight herself said she wasn’t one to dwell on what happened in the past…
 
So that makes her:
 
A) a liar  
B) a hypocrite

I don’t think she came off as unlikable. I understood exactly where Twilight was coming from, as even though she may have forgiven Trixie in Magic Duel, she still had her doubts about Trixie.

At the cost of being completely unlikable throughout the whole thing. (I mean really, she not only proves herself to be a hypocrite by not at least trying to let bygones be bygones with Trixie, but completely disregards Starlight’s opinions as completely wrong, and very nearly drove Trixie to suicide by pushing Trixie to say something she didn’t mean to and poured salt in the wound afterwards. ALL SO SHE COULD MAKE CELESTIA PROUD OF HER!!!!!!)
 
And while she did fix her mistake, she never once reflected on why she made the mistake in the first place. Thus, she didn’t really learn anything meaningful.

I think the entire show is particular wasted potential at this point. It’s inevitable.

She was a student and was forced into a teacher position. And to learn things in a show context is to make mistake and reflect on them in a compelling way which doesn’t happen anymore.

No there’s a difference between a small group and a group that doesn’t speak out much about it but does it loudly because the other side gets anal about criticism and get called shit starter and suck or duck or simply “Humiliated” or dismissed by delusional fans.
 
So of course you’ll only see a small highly vocal part of us, because this fandom is filled with who can’t see the difference between good and bad story telling and in which most youtubers who review mlp and such just sugar coat everything just so everyone is happy and avoid pissing someone off with actually good analysis of the show.

If “very split” means there’s a fairly small but highly vocal group of people who decry her, yes. The vast majority of fans, as far as I can tell, are pretty happy with Twilight as she has turned out.

All I’m saying is Twilight is a character whose potential was utterly wasted. And the Fandom is very split on whether or not Twilight is likeable or not. It’s all a matter of preference and opinion.

I think you’re speaking entirely in hyperbole. There’s a lot of people, myself included, who still like Twilight Sparkle.

What really makes me mad about Twilight is that she the perfect example on how to waste a character’s pontential.
 
Seasons 1+2: started with her having loads of potential to be a great protagonist
 
Season 3: was given alicorn wings, had potential to shake up the status quo
 
Season 4: It is revealed that Twilight became an alicorn just to do what she had always been doing, and everything started revolving around her
 
Season 5: Twilight is seen as always in the right, despite clearly being in the wrong and gets all credit for group success (in which she didn’t really do anything meaningful)
 
Season 6: showed Twilicorn as merely an act of mentor nepotism. Plus, became as useless as her mentor in the premiere and finale. Also shown not to be very good at the thing she is a princess of.
 
 
So yeah, is it really a wonder why people don’t like her nowadays?
