Realistically, the most likely thing to happen here is that Sprout would run away screaming for his mommy, while Nightmare Moon just shakes her head and dismisses him as a coward before moving on to more important things.

This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
two ponies who all their lives were left aside in favor of their more successful companions, which resulted in envy causing them to make bad decisions, but now together they could finally learn to not try to be something they are not, they could be them themselves and love themselves.
Or they could unite to conquer Equestria and get revenge on everyone who slighted them.
Regardless of the outcome, this would be fun to see
