One of the first rules of MLP: something being cute and pettable is never unjustified
I still don’t see anything cute about them.
Because magic doesn’t exist, right? 😏
the only possible explanation… and it’s actually bad.
@Fair Use (Optimistic Neighsayer)
this is pulling an owl onto a globe, because in G5 dragons don’t even live near volcanoes. In general, it is possible that they are no longer fireproof (it would be funny).
In any case, you can speculate as much as you like, but all this will remain far-fetched.
therefore, I suggest that we end this conversation and just stay with our opinion.
I would assume the hair is as fireproof as the rest of them.
At the moment, there is not a single confirmation of this idea. in addition, if the hair consists of a fireproof material, they are unlikely to be able to fit into such a neat hairstyle.
To validate the Sparity shippers?
And maybe even to imply than other Dragon+Pony couples followed suit?
This idea has several disadvantages. Where are the dragons born from the couple of two dragons? Why does Spike (if it’s the same Spike) look like the others? Why do dragons (being derived from interspecies couples) distrust ponies so much that the Dragon Lord has to appeal to his own authority to calm them down?

@Background Pony #D988
I mean it doesn’t make sense that Hasbro would greenlight that big of a change without it already being an incipient toyline; the Guardians Of Harmony series of toys and tie-in comics were (tragically) not very popular either, considering the runaway success of G4 toys in general, but it was still planned years in advance.
@Jonny Manz
Unjustified reason. Firstly, unlike the crest, the mane does not add to the aerodynamics (although, given the ratio between the size of the body and the crest, the increase in streamlining is negligible). Secondly, we are talking about fire-breathing reptiles - the first sloppy exhalation and the mane is gone.
@Rare
If being copy/paste bodies look nicer, I guess so. Even when some of the g4 dragons didnt look good, at least their was more variety. Just compare the styles of Spike, Ember, Smolder, and Garble. Its all subjective, the same could be said about g4 bodies being copy and paste too.
But I cracked up seeing the paw shapes under their claws. 3 digit paw pad for a four claw foot. Dreamworks did the same with their recent dragon spinoff.
That’s just what I’d expect someone that wrong to say.
Just because my standards of cuteness are different from yours doesn’t mean that any of us are wrong.
Edited because: Better response

Hmm… Then it’s really strange.

Apparently, “colorful deer” were not as popular as the creators would like.
In retrospect, the manes are probably just to make them as potential brushable toys.
I’m still baffled that for as toyetic as the Changedlings were, we never actually got any bonniedamn toys of them.
most likely so. and the choice of colors for the same reason.
Glad ya find it funny.

To be cute, and give something to pet
Dragons are bigger this time, so that’s a bonus trait.
small question: What do they need a mane for?
True, tho imagine if it the hair was feathers. That be sweet. As a reflection of dinos being more feathery these days.
I was just happy with the addition of females having manes, above all else.
