Mostly, people think it gets in the way of other, more action-y ships. People think it’s way too moe and vanilla, plus it doesn’t help that the show kinda-sorta put Mac with Cherrilee. We’re an old crew, but still strong, and very few people are getting off this ship.

Which is odd. Yeah, I kind of liked the ship, still do but as much. The whole hate for it seemed…out of place.
 
Maybe it’s because people didn’t want Big Mac and Fluttershy to be straight. (We still get tons of Big Mac/Caramel and Fluttershy/Rainbow Dash, which were both popular back then and still going on now.)

Not really into this ship, but I can still dig it! HNNNG!
 
Actually it’s odd that this was really popular and now the ship get’s a lot of hate. I dun git it.

I just ship it ‘cause it’s cute.

The appeal is more of a fuzzy, warm thing. Fluttershy is small and timid, Mac is large yet gentle. Once they’d get over the initial awkwardness, Flutters and Mac’s quiet, reserved natures would help them get along just fine. They would be able to enjoy each other’s company and appreciation of nature, along with Mac never trying to pull Fluttershy into the latest adventure of the week.
 
All in all, it’s kinda a vanilla ship, but when you’re surrounded by ships as stable as two bricks held together by tissue paper, it’s a refreshing change of pace.

That ships makes even less sense, since they pretty much live in different cities/towns.  
I never liked Vinyl/Octavia for the most part, especially since it restricts shipping them with other ponies.

No. Pinkie and him have interacted more. (Equestria Girls. They were in the same scene, just didn’t talk to each other.)  
I have no idea, but I like that pairing.
 
The appeal for this (Fluttershy/Big Macintosh) Most likely stems from the fact that Big Mac would….be a great help?  
Okay yeah, this ship pretty much stems from season 1, where Big Mac was never really seen, so people made him shy and stuff. (Also, pretty much speaking in ‘Enope’ and ‘Eyup’.) As well as being a big brawny stallion to help and protect, small and meek Fluttershy.
 
It’s not a pairing I’m a fan of, but I see no harm in it.

They’ve been in the same room a few times, but that’s about it.
 
Not my favorite ship, either. They both need an extrovert to pull them out of their shell.
