@Villain Pony

A ‘spoiled brat’ by OUR standards. How she acted is probably very close to how morarchy acted a thousand years ago. Powerful, entitled, overbearing. Keep in mind, 1000 years ago the ROYAL CANTERLOCK was common, because Luna doesn’t even consider it could be wrong. The idea of royalty at that time was holding oneself high, above the common people, to act as an inspiration. That was the time of Divine Right.

In Celestia’s time, the rulers are more laid back with their subjects. She’s more relaxed and likes to interact with them on a personal level. You’re taking Luna, still used to this Self Importance style of governing, and putting her into a situation where she is expected to behave with PC in mind.

Look at the discussion she had with Kibltz about the proper way to address the citizenry.

She’s not being malicious, as her day with Kibltz shows, she’s ignorant. He needs to correct her and guide her and, for the most part, she doesn’t resist him. She doesn’t enjoy it, certainly, but she acquiesces to most of him demands, even if she finds it all terribly boring.

At the end of her Micro, she’s realized that things got out of control, and steps up to take command in the way she knows how. She, as the comic suggests, found her groove. And even if she is still adapting to a new world, she understands a lot more about how the world functions.

I dunno about you, but I like watching characters grow. The last thing we need is another Celestia.

You went into a rant about how dissimilar Cook/Price Luna is to show-version Prince Blueblood.
So instead of comparing the two characters, I simply stated that I dislike how Katie/Andy Luna acts and behaves compared to the show and other comic iterations of her.

I think that’s a bit much. Luna clearly does care for her subjects, she’s just a bit dated in her mannerisms. If Obama went to play chess with the people visiting the White House as pieces, it would be a huge incident.

If King Henry I did it (circa 1100 AD), nobody would bat an eye at it. Look at how magnanimous the King is being, associating with the peasantry!

Being 1000 years out of date is more than just the wrong speech styles. And it isn’t something that is just fixed over one holiday. There’s a lot she has to learn, and I for one appreciate that the comics keeps hammering that point.

If you don’t like Luna being portrayed that way, fine. But to compare her to someone who doesn’t give a crap about anyone except himself, when Luna clearly cares about her subjects (even if she has difficulty showing it sometimes) is just insane. She’s a skilled and caring monarch, through and through, even if she is a bit rough around the edges.

GekkanShounen

Spike just seems to work well with all of the cast due to his abilities and aptitude for support with a dash of the occasional heroics when needed. And it makes sense to me he’d work well with Luna since she’s also more adventure-prone than most of the others like Spike.

Sorry, but having multiple stories of Luna sad about her shortcomings just gets boring after a while. Can’t we have an issue where low self-esteem isn’t Luna’s sole character flaw?

No because she really doesn’t have much else going for her, her character revolves around her backstory and without it she’s pretty boring.

@LuminoZero

She’s funny but When I read something like the Luna Micro all I think is that the citizens of Equestria should rise but and remove her, because she does not deserve to be anywhere near power. She doesn’t come off as out of time and weird, she comes off as unlikable and a brat.

It’s sad cause the show has DONE A GOOD CHARACTERIZATION OF LUNA. Back in Luna Eclipsed she was great but nether the show or comics have really used that characterization since for who knows what reason.

Because he only parties with his friends half the time. Another forty-five perfect of his time is spent snacking, working, and reading comics. I would like to think that these wonderful scenarios are the remaining five percent.

A story where one character is perfect is boring. The FF with Spike and Celestia was good because we got to see Celestia gaining something from the adventure as well.

And I like comic book Luna. She can be a bit flanderized at times, I’ll agree, but at least she has a personality. I may love Sleepless in Ponyville and For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils, but Luna’s presence in them lacked any real flavor. She was a Yoda archtype, there only to present guidance to a less experienced and far more interesting character.

The comics actually make her entertaining, and that is fine by me.

“personal shortcomings”
Can we have a Luna story that doesn’t involve her self-perceived shortcomings?
Mojo

Also who’s ready for Luna to be a completely different character again! Cause I don’t think this writer has written her yet. And It’s mandatory that Luna’s personality change completely between appearances and writers.

because he knows he will live much longer than normal ponies so need to stick with immortal/demi-god ladies … specially when he will mature/get older (wink wink nudge nudge)
