MPC-HC here + K-Lite Codec Pack. But VLC still has the advantage of being ready to run out of the box and kinda-sorta work.

Like, being able to slap VLC into a USB Drive and use it on any computer without installing anything.

Wallet After Summer Sale -

Great for almost everything. I got some old midi music files from Warcraft 2, Monkey Island and Theme Hospital that I like to play. VLC dropped support for midi files after version 2.0.8, they said the codec had a security vulnerability or something. Instead of fixing it they took the lazy option and just disabled midi all together. It’s been two years now, and it doesn’t look like they’re in a hurry to bring it back, so I guess I’ll just sit on 2.0.8 until a better media player comes along.
