Rarity was definitely not a stand-in for anyone here. She has been the worst of the mane 6, and is now the worst of the mane 7. She didn’t even redeem herself in this episode.

I think they chose Rarity as the stand-in for a reason, though. From what I’ve seen, the fandom really does cast her in a much less flattering light than the rest of the Mane Six. In my experience, it’s not unusual to see her portrayed or referred to as greedy, shallow, manipulative, promiscuous, abusive (generally towards Sweetie Belle), casually racist and/or just a flat-out bitch.
You’re telling me because THE ENDING WAS NEVER RESOLVED SO I was like: “WHAT THE HECK PEOPLE DUDES?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?”
If you disagreed with the toxic fandom(which not all fan ponies were) then your not what they were making fun of.
