Just a brief reminder of how absurdly shiptastic that one Friendship Games deleted scene was. I swear, this would be canon if the crew could get away with it.

At this point it’s just the show’s style. Almost all of the friendships on the show seem particularly tender and intimate, and I think it adds to the optimistic tone.
Though I wish they would balance that and insensitive bickering a bit better.

At the time I think I read too much into the between-frames, and I know now that the writers and animators would never actually push for a romance between these two. Still, I do still think there’s something vaguely intimate about this scene, which doesn’t automatically mean romance, but it works for me.
Arguably in context also - but of course, YMMV XD
Well, that’s a matter of opinion, I personally think it was quite shippy looking - but of course, YMMV.
