When I go to the main page, all of the images seem to be trying to load on top of each other on the top row. The site format seems to be slightly different too. I can’t say exactly what, but something is definitely “off”.

Had the same problem with IE. Try changing your browser. Had to change to Chrome, myself. With me the problem was temporary. DB displayed normally back on IE after a while.

So I thought I’d found a solution to my problem by using derpiboo.ru instead of derpibooru.org, but after several days of that, the same problem just cropped up there too. It still works on chrome, but I’m hoping the problem clears up soon.
 
Edit: Oh, and I was going to try the “log out and log back in” thing, but when I pressed “logout” I got “Sorry, we couldn’t find that. (404)”

Truthfully, I can’t say. Had that problem a good 4 months ago. Got me Chrome and didn’t check in on IE for another month or so. When I did it was fixed but since I kept using Chrome after that I can’t tell if it would’ve stayed that way.

The certificate is not self-signed; our cert is a fully verified cert via StartSSL, which is supported as a certification authority in all major and most minor browsers. What browser are you using?

It’s a CSS incompatibility with older IE renderers because of the combination of display:table-* and the float property. Hit F12 in IE and see if you are running in “Compatibility Mode” for older IEs and see if you can click that to force Standards Mode.
 
I’m in backend hell right now, but on our end it can be as simple as changing the display property on our end to inline-block and eliminating the float, and readjusting the margins.

The .org is suddenly working for me now, but the .ru is still messed up.
It honestly sounds like your browser is randomly deciding to switch between sane and compat mode on its own volition, then resetting after X period of non-use.

Given:
 
  • The certificate is identical for both domains (both names are listed as alternates)  
  • The site code is identical on both domains  
  • The entire site stack is identical on both domains  
  • In fact, the site doesn’t even know there’s multiple domains, everything is rewritten to .ru internally before it hits the webserver in our cache layer
     
    It’s probably something on your end.
