Pinklestia

Well, technically, the discussion this time will be about the pinklestia tag. It’s original intention was to serve as a tag for celestia coloured pink:
 

 
However, it wasn’t long until people started using it as the Celestia equivalent to s1 luna (a different-maned, slightly younger version of the character):
 

 
However, since said uses are completely different, i think that separating these tags would be a good idea. I’ve also found pink celestia as a alternate tag of sorts, and it’s as much of a mess as pinklestia, except with more pink celestia.
 
So, which of these situations should retain the name “pinklestia”?

pinklestia is a specific meme referring to the all-pink Celestia that came from the misprinted toy.
 
I’d suggest pink-mane celestia for when she only has a pink mane, and alias young celestia into it.

That’s sort of what i was thinking too. We’d also have to alias “pink celestia” to “pinklestia” too, in this case.

Huh. On first glance I thought that tag was for Pinkie + Celestia ships. But I seen now there’s actually a PinkieLestia tag. So I’m good.
 

How about baby/foal S1-design-having Luna, which is currently banned from being tagged with S1 Luna?
 
I’d prefer ‘S1 Luna’ to be aliased into a tag that means that design, without the needless tie-in with the season and exclusion of baby Luna… But that’s another discussion probably.
 
As for Celestia, I do agree, ‘pinklestia’ is originally the pink-bodied alt design.
 
Suggesting ‘pre-ethereal Celestia’ for any and all Celestia (young or mature) with the pink-maned ‘younger’ design.
 
Also suggesting ‘pre-ethereal Luna’ for any and all Luna with the S1 ‘younger’ design.
 
This would be a consistent way of naming these related phenomena and not require an age in the tag name. (I think most of the fandom agrees that becoming ethereal is something like a further ascension, tied not to age but to personal growth in wisdom and virtue. And what is ‘young’ to a near if not totally immortal character anyway?)

We have woona for filly/baby Luna. the progression tends to be like that: Woona -> S1 Luna -> Princess Luna

What about images where she’s an adult with pink mane? I propose “Young Celestia” for images where she’s young (analogous to “s1 Luna”), and “pink-mane Celestia” for ones with her mane being non-desaturated pink (because desaturated pink is nigh-universally Molestia instead).

I can get behind this. But the practise for younger-than-normal characters is to tag “younger” + character, not “young character”. Why baby Cel and Luna are exceptions to this is beyond my comprehension.

the thing is that we don’t have such a division in place for luna.

I did specifically think of that case, but that’s why I have the alias as young celestia -> pink-mane celestia. My logic is, not all pink-maned Celestias are young, but most young Celestias are pink-maned. Since the pink-mane attribute is more general than the young attribute, the former should “gobble” the latter.
 
TL;DR: Young Celestia with a pink mane would be tagged [pink-mane celestia](/tags/pink-dash-mane+celestia), [princess celestia](/tags/princess+celestia), [young](/tags/young'), young Celestia with her normal mane would be tagged princess celestia, young, and adult Celestia with a pink mane would just be tagged [pink-mane celestia](/tags/pink-dash-mane+celestia), [princess celestia`](/tags/princess+celestia’).

Because Luna’s blue non-magicky mane is show-canon while Celestia’s pink mane isn’t.
