Alias:
Starry Mane (392) ↔ Galaxy Mane (602)

The two tags are being used for the same thing. Ordinarily the higher number tag would get the alias, however I would recommend aliasing galaxy mane into starry mane instead, based on galaxy mane’s higher numbers being largely propagated by two users in the last year rather than a natural preference of the site at large. I would further claim that starry mane is a more accurate and fitting description of what the tags depict.

Alternatively, there are images such as this >>117938 where the mane does contain the imagery of a galaxy in it and there are more like it. It would be a considerable amount of cleanup, but galaxy mane could be redefined to specifically be used for that specific type of mane, in which case:

Possible Implications:

galaxy mane -> starry mane, ethereal mane

“A mane containing containing details like a galaxy, nebula, or other vast cosmic bodies. If it’s just stars, use starry mane by itself.”

Notoriously Divine Tagger - Consistently uploads images above and beyond the minimum tag requirements. And/or additionally, bringing over the original description from the source if the image has one. Does NOT apply to the uploader adding several to a dozen tags after originally uploading with minimum to bare tagging.

I second this. There’s no reason for starry mane and galaxy mane to be separate tags as they are used now, but a way to tag images where there are literal galaxies, nebulas or similar features (like here or here or here) in a character’s mane instead of just little points of light would be useful.

So I throw in my hat for the proposed cleanup, implications and description.

Re-raising this issue. If no one want to go through the trouble of disambiguating galaxy mane into a useful sub-variant of starry mane, it’s past time the two tags were aliased.
Update since this post was first created, Starry mane is now the far more used tag, so Galaxy mane should be aliased to it.

As someone who’s been doing most of the tagging of starry mane for the last few weeks, I would love to have that distinction between galaxy mane and starry mane and am happy to partake in cleaning up the galaxy mane tag. Setting the galaxy mane -> starry mane and galaxy tail -> starry tail implications would be a great step forward.
There’s also images like

Where there’s stars in the mane, but not ethereal. I have no idea should that count as “starry mane” or not.
This looks like an edge case but one that the tagging system should accommodate. I found that a stars in mane tag exists but it’s a non-obvious fit because it’s pretty much a synonym for starry mane (and I suggest aliasing it for that reason).
I’d personally expect to find that image by searching for starry mane, -ethereal mane - which does, as of today, return mostly the expected results!
So how about removing the starry mane -> ethereal mane (and similar starry tail -> ethereal tail) implication?
