On the other hand, it would have been a much cooler episode if somehow her friends figured out she had been hypnotized and found a way to save the day. But getting them to realize something was wrong would be the tricky part.
It would have made for a suspenseful two-parter, though.

Sure but why would you wanna see that. A cool idea for an alternative universe fic or comic but for the actual canon of the show that would be a bit of a downer and a bit insulting tbh.
Even without being a kids show and the villain will that easily would probably be a massive let down
@Spoonlol
Much more so in later appearances.
Plus, it’s a children’s show, so they can’t have the protagonist getting mind controlled and the villain winning without resistance.
@OtherFritz
Well we all know the real reason why Chrysalis didn’t just mind control Twilight, or put her prisoners under heavy guard or simplify not revel herself until it was too late…Chrysalis is a Kids show Villain and so she is going to make moves that make little sense but allow the heros to pull a path to victory. It all boils to that really. The writers need to make sure the plot is wrapped in time for the commercials.
My, what a delightful outcome! Run along, Twilight! Your Princess will have high expectations of you from now on.

I believe it is worth pointing out that this is a matter of hindsight more than anything else. Up to that point, the caves below Canterlot had been successfully holding Cadance for all but the entire duration of Chrysalis’ infiltration and she had every reason to believe they were effectively inescapable.
This is one of the reason I love to hate Chrissy…because she’s just such an idiot. Million ways to get away with her plan but messes up at every stage.
This idea is great that, really hope someone explores a fanfic with this idea
Chrysalis’ form of mind control on Shining Armor seemed to be cemented over an extended period of time, also (it seemed he had some control when he snapped at Twilight, but it was dubious, and he definitely was exerting himself when he tried to argue that he should wear something that belonged to his uncle before that). If she tried it on Twilight, it might’ve backfired. Twilight might have higher than normal mental fortitude/mind control resistance, considering Discord did not try to directly brainwash her; he broke her by having her friends corrupted.
Princess Cadance: [muffled] I thought I made it perfectly clear I didn’t want you to wear that. Shining Armor: This was my favorite uncle’s. Princess Cadance: And? Shining Armor: And I think I should wear it. Princess Cadance: Are you disagreeing with me? Shining Armor: I guess I am– Ah! Princess Cadance: Oh, dear. Are you getting another one of your headaches? Shining Armor: Gyah! Princess Cadance: Feeling better?
Cadance seems to have knowledge on how to dispel mind control, seeing as she undid it for Shining Armor, and she used the Crystal Heart to mass dispel Sombra’s influence, including mind control. Sombra is probably superior in matters of mind control in comparison to Chrysalis, because he can get it done faster to more ponies, and his brainwashed minions weren’t really dealt with as effortlessly as the bridesmaids that were brainwashed offscreen were (they weren’t beaten by jingling a bouquet in front of them). Chrysalis also, for whatever reason, did not command Shining Armor to lower the barrier himself, as opposed to her minions banging on the barrier until it collapsed. Is it because she didn’t have such a degree of control over him?
Ultimately though, she did what she did to Twilight out of spite, and she was probably thinking through her revenge as she went along with doing it (she settled on possibly “trick Twilight into murdering Cadance” after she got her pissed off with the taunt instead of being sunken into despair). She didn’t even need to do something like this, all she had to do is say “hey, we’ll talk about this after… just go home, alright?” …and then have her house swarmed after the invasion goes as planned, and proceed from there in the “vengeance” process.
TL;DR: I think this would’ve been far more doable if it were Sombra doing this instead, aside from the high probability of “personality reasons” with Chrysalis, based on what we saw, and if it were imperfect, it would’ve had even more of a chance of Celestia figuring something is wrong; possibly even if it did work perfectly.

Dude, you don’t need to spam out five comments on one image in the span of twenty minutes. Just post your comment, and if you think of something else you could’ve said on it, edit it into the first comment.
That would work, though that’s basically what happens in the episode already. Just with twi instead of cadance
