I’ve often wondered about how Spike’s greed growth incident colored his perception of growing in general – even if you live in Ponyville, turning into a giant greedy monster and wrecking the town is going to leave certain mental scars. And yet, he must someday grow, carrying with him the fear of the last time he did so. It is a time of uncertainty and fear, represented by the storm and the monster that slips between the waves – but on the horizon, the storm abates and the seas calm, signaling a transition to a more peaceful state of mind.
