idk about y’all but I’m getting some Lord of the Rings vibes from this. Like seriously that’s a re-imagined Hobbit hole. And the crystals remind me of the Elves’ enchanted forest.

I can see the unicorn home being G5’s Lothlorien. Unicorns and enchanted forests go together, after all.

So unicorns went from Canterlot to basically Lothlórien*. I can get behind that.

Crystal sprouts that can be seen here, shown that Bridlewood Forest is obviously a new place that was not seen early in the G4, and there may be a trace of where this place is located. There are many crystallized landscapes to the north, especially around the Crystal City - and it is possible that the forest was originally part of the Crystal Empire. Crystal Empire may in the time before Sombra’s coup have covered much larger parts of Equestria than in Twilight Sparkle’s time, as it was never explained where the border went during “The Crystal War” when the royal sisters attacked Sombra.
 
Also, there is a fanon theory that seems to have been encouraged in both the show and the comics, that crystals are important to be able to generate and store magical power called “mana”; the crystal heart as one of the most powerful magical objects, is of crystal. It is certain that the Crystal City will survive to the G5, but will be very strongly isolated that it may have been forgotten by the rest of Equestria. These crystals in the forest must have been very important for the unicorns. Perhaps it is with these unicorns could experiment and study magic in a world with far too little active magic.
