It’s what makes them rather staunch allies of mankind nowadays, now that the whole “sieging towns and killing people who can’t answer a riddle” thing is well in the past. Turns out just being friends with humanity works out a lot better for them XD

Their behavior is just as much a mishmash as their body. They have the intelligence and emotions of humans, but a lot of lion behaviors and instincts too, and since they have so much trouble manipulating stuff with their paws they never really developed a want or need to wear clothes. Besides, female sphinxes are proud of their bust size so the only reason they’d ever cover them up is to fit in with us weird humans who wear clothing XD
 
Though they do go into heat, and a friend of a sphinx will probably be asked to “help them out with it” since it’s so distracting XD

Is it because lions can mate 20 times per day during mating season and humans have no mating season in particular? If Ms. Shimmer does find a mate, would she become overprotective over him and the children they have and become “a tsundere birb that borders on yandere territory” like eagles do?

This one isn’t a hybrid, she’s just Sunset Shimmer as a sphinx instead of a human. I’m a real fan of the classic Greek sphinx, though I do like to add the wings too because of winghugs :D

My question is how human Sunset found a griffon to have offspring with if she keeps changing forms between sides of the portal. Do griffons not change forms? Or is this left to the imagination?

Could you please do this kind of picture with Alex (human x Gilda daughter), humanized Gabby, or perhaps even humanized Silverstream? I agree with @Background Pony #2238 in saying that we need more griffon satyrs on Derpibooru and that they are grossly underrated for how cute and adorable they are. It’s nice to see you throwing your hat into this ring, but I think you may have great potential by doing more than just the Sunset x griffon OC.

And yeah, that’s accurate about sphinx diversity, though I’ll definitely give this style a shot if/when I draw a non-Sphinxy sphinx next. Though being a furry means I often avoid drawing human heads whenever possible :P

I like to lean toward this style of creature, where it’s an entirely human face and chest but an entirely animal body, since it’s actually very uncommon. Go onto any art site and search for “sphinx” and about 99% of it will be winged anthro lions, or cat girls with wings, and even ones that are otherwise drawn in this style are likely to have a cat nose or face. I love this style so much though, and people almost never draw it, so I have to do it myself XD
 
I really need to start commissioning artists. It’s something I’ve actually never done if you can believe it XD
