I mean… Deliberately getting stung by various insects to see how painful they are is a legitimate field of scientific study. Also, it’s basically what Coyote Peterson is famous for.
Much like a Chicken Hawk is named for hunting chickens, a Tarantula Hawk Wasp is a wasp species that hunts tarantulas, specifically to lay their eggs inside of, and it’s one of the most brutal processes I’ve heard of in nature.

I mean, if she’s not a Tarantula Hawk Wasp, then I’m good for it.
