If I recall correctly, pinnipeds have all the correct bones for hands and feet, so I suspose you could make hands and feet out of them (altho some of their other modifications for a marine lifestyle might be an issue). Cetaceans do not have any of the hind limb bone structure, so they’d be out.
Well, if I recall correctly, they do have some of the hind limb bones but not all of them. Plus, they are extra tiny in comparison to the rest of the body. As far as pinnipeds are concerned, I guess I should have also included the body shape as well since the hind limbs are literally hind limbs. LOL.

Why only non-ungulates?
Well, in my universe, due to the fact that ungulates only have one or two toes (except elephants and their relatives) to make hands and feet out of, and humans have five fingers and toes, the DNA conflicted and ungulates rejected human DNA. The reason elephants and their relatives rejected human DNA is because, technically, their toes are inside the feet and this is the reason they rejected human DNA. Pinnipeds (seals, sea lions, and walruses) and cetaceans (whales, porpoises, and dolphins) don’t have feet they have flippers and the same problem occurred with them. Plus, I had to have a source of “horsepower” and meat for the Humanimals. LOL

I had a dream similar to that several, several years ago. A war related genetic pathogen was slowly wiping out the human race. The only way to survive was to combine animal DNA with human DNA as the pathogen didn’t affect animals. You would begin to evolve into a hybrid of human and your chosen species. You maintained higher thought and memories. You could only produce offspring with your chosen species or species/hybrid because of differing DNA. The highest law created for the new hybrid species was no offspring created by hybrid and original species mating. The offspring couldn’t handle their base instincts combined with higher intelligence. It would drive them insane and they would become a threat to all around. They would need put down. The dream story was centered around a bear/woman that mated with a feral male bear and had a cub. She tried to shield him from society but his urges became too strong and he began indiscriminate killing and had to be hunted down. I had always hoped there would be a sequel to the dream, but I don’t think there ever was.
I like that term humanimals. If I ever continue that dream, I want to incorporate it into the story line. It looks like it’s pronounced hew-man-imals.
Thanks and feel free to use Humanimals. In case you haven’t figured it out, I just combined human and animal into one word, Humanimal. As I said, in my story, the humanimals were created by combining human and animal DNA. I explain that experiments were performed and only mammals accepted the human DNA but, more importantly, only non-ungulate land mammals accepted the genetic engineering. So, basically, my Humanimals are GELFs. Also, since the Humanimals have 23 pairs of chromosomes, any “species” of Humanimal can mate with any other “species” and produce fertile young. I’ve got a European grey wolf married to a Eastern cottontail rabbit, a Nubian lion married to a Siberian tigress, and, eventually, a human married to a red fox/tigress. What story?
Oh? I didn’t tell you? I’ve been working on a story for about 5 years now. (I’m up to Chapter 64 I think.) It’s the story of a 21st-century human who contracts a genetically altered HIV that’s airborne. Fortunately for him and every other human, it doesn’t develop into AIDS but it does alter humans genetically. The protagonist, Michael Thomson, is put into stasis and awakens 20,000 years later and finds that humans are going extinct due to the death rate being about 0.01% higher than the birth rate. However, humans have created a replacement species called Humanimals which are half-human and half-animal (non-ungulate land mammals). I’m posting it on several “furry” websites and got some pretty nice comments from readers.

Woo-hoo! I’m glad to hear that. Like I said, I’ve become quite a fan of this story. (The sex is great but at my age it’s just a side-track to the real story.) The reason I’ve been away for so long is because I’m trying to finish the story I started over 5 years ago. (I’ve only got one or two more chapters plus an epilogue.) I just finished Part 7 and I’ll be trying to read a chapter a day until I get caught up again.

Hey, Stellarator. It’s been a while since I visited but I’ve been kind of busy with other things. Are you still updating this comic? I surely hope so because I like it as much as any other comic I read. If not, then I accept your decision to stop updating it but I will go back to the beginning occasionally to re-read it.

I really like the story building, and it’s not just about porn. Seems they’ve found a way to compensate the sirens for being alone after Twi defeated them (money and ‘feeding’). I’d really like the concert if their boyfriends were there, and the all Princess can see how they’ve changed. (Imagine Cadance around Sonata and Smoothie being all lovey-dovey (not in a porn way (or maybe :D )) Hope it continues soon. :)

Somehow I get the impression the the royal guard’s purpose is not so much protecting the princesses from assailants as ensuring said assailants end up in a cell instead of an urn.
I think that’s true for Luna (“Thee art inconvenient. Thou shalt die.”) and for Celestia (“I wish you had not put yourself in that position, but Equestria’s safety requires your dispatch.”). But for Twilight? “You’re bad. I must, I mean - um, I think I should…” <villain either flees or hits Twilight over the head with a large book, or both>.
Having Cauldron there saves Twilight from having to make snap judgements. She’s better when she has time to research the optimal response.
