End of the day it’s all headcanon; even if a character comes right out and declares for Team Stripeyflag onscreen, they could still be faking it for fanfic purposes.

Yeah, you can justify almost anything in headcanon, if you’re determined. One of many reasons why it’s probably not worth taking too seriously.

Still fun to debate though, provided you can keep it from becoming a full on argument.

Oh yeah, it’s definitely because ~~Zeph~~ is a creep and always has been, that was just a perfect little character moment.

Even without the color scheme, though, Dash would have always scanned as Sports Lesbian to me because she’s pretty much exactly every Sports Lesbian I’ve ever known or been related to, the same way Applejack is pretty much every Farm Gal I’ve ever known or been related to.

Again, I’m not against the idea or anything, but they don’t specifically say that. Rainbow’s comment about Applejack letting her do some of the chores could be argued to be a callback to season one, and an indication that Applejack is still a bit stubborn about accepting help from her friends. And even if you do take their back and forth as an indication Rainbow lives on the farm with Applejack, that comment doesn’t really guarantee the relationship between the two is a romantic or physical one. They could just as easily be emotionally intimate, vis-à-vis in something like a queerplatonic relationship, but entirely uninterested in dating or anything beyond that.

To be fair, that reaction is probably a lot more about it being Zephyr than it is about it being a guy. Also, I never said she had to be hetero, just that I don’t think the show ever really depicted her as a lesbian. Or much of anything, really, where romantic or sexual relationships are concerned. Personally I’d put her down as completely uninterested in that sort of stuff, especially since the only time she ever played up her allure for someone else was in an attempt to change a nickname she wasn’t fond of. But again, that’s just me.

I mean, that’s one way to view it, but it wasn’t the only way. As I recall Jim Miller flat out stated that they left it open to the individual viewer to decide what those two were to each other. So it’s just as canonical to say that shows they’re a couple as it is to say that shows they’re lifelong (and still competitive) friends.

That scene wasn’t any more of a ship-tease than the other 100 similar scenes throughout the show with other characters. Is appledash canon? Maybe!

Is that related to your choice example of why she doesn’t like guys? Nope!

Your logic there is as flawed as all the random 16yo kids on DA writing journals about how Rainbow Dash is clearly not gay because she fangirled at Soarin’ that one time.

Y’know, it makes a lot of sense; on first pass the obvious for Dash given her characterization in both the show and in fanon is either queer-in-general or lesbian, but nonbinary being more of a personal identity for her than who she’s hot n’ bothered for does actually seem to fit her better. She’s always had a Heck That I’m Awesome attitude about everything, so ignoring gender markers and just rollin’ with whatever she thinks is cool at the time– whether it’s kicking an entire Dragon right in the face or glitzin’ up with a fancy dress for the Gala– suits her perfectly.

I went ahead and checked myself.

2 accounts existed solely to downvote content like this and have already been removed. 10 are likely intentionally ignoring filters and have been flagged for review, one of them specifically for appearing to have no other activity the rest of the year, and only two appear to be “going out of their way”. The rest have a high average of 3 “pride” or similar images hit per year.

Why this one? Likely number of characters and different “flags” at once to hit enough random bad buttons. Or people just really don’t like like ~~aromantic~~ nonbinary Rainbow Dash.

You’re conflating the idea of “a small number of people are going around targeting these images” with “there are a large number of people that don’t like these images and each downvotes a few”. When people are caught mass-downvoting a filterable tag, regardless of what it is, they’re dealt with; what’s left is randos. And not off-site brigades or dupe votes, because the site also cleans those out.

So really, are you expecting site staff to go through every person’s votes and ban people because they downvoted a pride image this year and another back in 2021? Because that’s how the list actually looks like for these.

And if you suspect that an image is being hit, then the proper thing to do is report it so mods can have a deeper/second look, not whine and snark about it in the comments.

And let’s ignore how the reason people wave these flags and the like around is because it wasn’t until that long ago, within living memory, that throughout most of the west two simply men holding hands in public was considered reason enough to beat them to death and/or imprison (and castrate) them, and how that’s still the case in half the planet now.

So yes, there is good reason for people to be proud, both of themselves (for keeping their heads high in a world where who they are is still used as an insult) and overall societal progress (reluctant as it may be).

I think you’ll survive a few days a year of suffering some rainbow flags and pins.

Like, I’m living in a pretty homophobic country, and that nonsense is practically making thing worse here, because pride look’s like some joke that’s made LGBT even more unwanted in our country. Like, if you guys want making youreself looks better (not really) by the cost of making real problem of other people worse then OK, but I don’t think this is what you trying to do.
